| Matmata is a Berber
village 40 km in the west of Gabès, on a flank
of mountain, at 600 meters of altitude. Besides calmness
that reigns there and the splendid view on the tray
of the same name, Matmata is known for its troglodytes.
These are dwellings dug in the mountain. One finds
all the necessary there: lounge, rooms, kitchen, room
of water. Some houses are elaborated enough with,
interior courses, floor and an entry tunnel. |
