Tabarka is a Tunisian sea resort situated in a gulf 175 km from the west of Tunis and 16 km of the Algerian border. Tabarka had a certain importance under the Roman domination. Thanks to its harbour it could export the mining, agricultural and forest products of the hinterland, it could also merchandise some fawns intended to the circus games.

The city developed and embellished, it saw the edification of several convents, basilicas and chapels that makes one of the most important bishoprics of Africa of it indeed. The coral becomes the main commercial stake of Tabarka that benefits from one of the most beautiful reefs of the world.
