BIZERTE |
| The former Hippo
Diarrhytus was originally a Phoenician port, then
Punic and finally Roman port. We can still appreciate
today the ancient port, the Slaheddine Bouchoucha
square with a fountain built in 1642. Two mosques
are worth the visit; the Rebaa and the Grand Mosques.
The blacksmith market is interesting, as we can see
artisans using wrought iron to produce master work
pieces,

The Kasbah and the
small fort of Sidi Hani are very charmful. The fort
of Spain, built by a famous corsair in 1573, redeveloped
in an open air theatre, offers a very nice view on
the city and the lake.
In the neighborhood of Bizerte, do not miss to visit
Cap Blanc with the Cornice beaches, Cap Bizerte and
Jebel Nador, offering very interesting panoramas:
Béchateur, the lighthouse of Ras Engalah ;
the lake of Bizerte and lake Ichkeul ; the beach of
Remel.
